About the position
Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to drive positive change? Are you looking to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic and fast-growing design brand setting? GUBI is seeking an ESG Intern/Trainee to join our growing Compliance and Sustainability team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices while contributing to meaningful sustainability initiatives in an international design company. You will gain hands-on experience across key ESG areas, including certification tracking, compliance and regulatory frameworks, carbon footprint analysis, life cycle assessment, and research on sustainable design and future-focused materials.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting with the tracking and management of certifications such as FSC, GreenGuard, OEKO-TEX, Cradle to Cradle etc.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
  • Supporting compliance initatives related to EUDR, EU EPR / PPWR, US regulstory requirements, UN Global Compact, etc.
  • Assisting with the organization and renewal of certificates and test reports.
  • Supporting data collection and analysis for Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs).
  • Assisting with initatives to optimize product packaging and reduce environmental impact.
  • Conducting research on sustainability topics, including circular economy, responsible sourcing, and sustainable materials.
  • Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders on sustainability-related initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Management, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field, where an internship is a mandatory part of the program.
  • Passionate about sustainability and motivated to make a positive impact.
  • Basic understanding of sustainability concepts and principles, including circular economy, environmental impact, and responsible materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with ESG principles and sustainability frameworks is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new software and systems.
  • Interest in product development and/or the design and furniture industry.

Language skills

  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Additional languages are considered an advantage.
