Software Engineer

Demant A/S

Denmark
Smørum
Software Engineer for Supporting Medical Device Development
Join us as a Java Developer and become a key contributor to one of Demant’s most important internal software systems. This is a unique opportunity to shape important technology in a company that values innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.

Our mission is clear
At Demant, we want hearing impaired to be able to experience the sounds of life. This is the foundation for everything we do. This is what drives us and keeps us focused on innovation and efficiency. We want to develop the world’s leading hearing healthcare solutions. Nothing less.

Our vision? Building the strongest tool suite possible! If you have experience developing software, which will stand the test of time and maintenance, and if you enjoy developing a complex data driven modelling tool using XSD-driven DSLs, you are at the right address

Furthermore, you always think twice about complexity and handle it by writing SOLID code. You are motivated by working with software designs, you want to spread this knowledge, and you apply patterns pragmatically

Join a fun team!
You will join an engaged team of highly skilled software developers that use Java to deliver tooling vital for the company. We work across two sites and perform in a multicultural environment. We develop and maintain a modelling- and communication tool which is used everywhere from microchip development, over embedded software to our production sites. Our tool suite is utilized across the entire organization, making our team a pivotal contributor to meeting Demant’s strategic business objectives

Our team works within a Scrum framework and is committed to ambitious goals. We believe that the best results come from a fruitful team effort. We support each other and constantly share feedback and knowledge to improve our results. We have an informal and creative atmosphere where respect is pivotal, and we aim for the common goal.

Defining, implementing and maintaining tools.
Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Developing an advanced development tool using the IntelliJ/Eclipse Platform/OSGi, EMF and Java SE
  • Providing training, support and set-up for other teams
  • As your domain knowledge increases, working alongside your colleagues and our customers on designing the solutions, we need you to help us improve

The skills and mindset you bring to the team
We expect you to have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent. Still, you do not consider hardware as something to fear. Furthermore, we are looking for the following skills:

  • Solid experience in OOP, preferably with Java as your primary language
  • Attention to detail and ability to break down complex features into simpler parts with clear interfaces
  • Working knowledge and application of good software practices and design patterns most likely from a student position in a similar setting
  • Experience with Eclipse IDE plugin development preferred but not required

As a person, you would describe yourself as someone who works well within teams and thrives in a supportive role when engaging our customers. You communicate effectively in both oral and written form. You are analytic and social and always open to doing a little better every day. Not the least, you have fun doing it!

We trust and value your professionalism, experience and contributions. Your new perspectives, insights and ideas are the cornerstones of our results, and we encourage you to come up with practical new ideas and structure your workflow with a high level of freedom.

Want to join the team?
Please apply as soon as possible, as we are screening and inviting for interviews on an ongoing basis. Deadline for the application is August 31, 2026. Please note that we only accept applications via our online recruitment system.

Final interviews are planned for September 22nd, 2026
At Demant we value diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) and we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of ethnic background, personality, age, gender, and education. Diversity is part of our cultural DNA. Women in STEM areas are particularly encouraged to apply, as Demant supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.
