Student Assistant with an interest in science and international collaboration - DTU Physics
Danmarks Tekniske Universitet
Communication, outreach and coordination in a European research network on light and quantum materials
Are you a structured and communicative student with an interest in science and international collaboration?
We are looking for a student assistant to help us run SPARKLE, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network coordinated by DTU Physics and funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe.
SPARKLE – “Advancing Polaritonics and Quantum Technology by Modifying Material Functionalities with Classical and Quantum Light” – brings together 14 PhD students and partner institutions across 8 European countries. You will help us keep the network connected, visible and well organised. Visit our website www.sparkle-dn.eu.
The job
As our student assistant, you will work closely with the network coordinator and the project management team and become an important part of the daily running of the network. You will help keep partners, PhD students and the wider public informed about what happens in SPARKLE, and make sure that the scientific achievements of the network are documented and visible.
Your primary tasks will be to:
- Support internal and external communication in the network, e.g. newsletters, announcements and updates of the SPARKLE website
- Keep the SPARKLE social media channels active by creating and posting content about the research, events and people in the network
- Collect and keep track of the scientific output from all partners, such as publications, conference contributions, datasets and outreach activities, so that it is ready for reporting to the European Commission
- Help plan and organise network events, such as workshops, training schools and network meetings, including practical coordination with partners and participants
- Assist with other administrative and coordination tasks related to the network
Our expectations of you
We are looking for a proactive student who enjoys communication and working in an international environment. You like to work independently, you can keep track of many tasks and deadlines at the same time, and you are comfortable being in contact with researchers from many different countries.
We expect that you:
- are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at DTU or another Danish university
- have excellent written and spoken English skills
- have an interest in science and in communicating it to a broad audience
- are familiar with social media and comfortable with standard IT tools (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- are organised, reliable and service-minded
It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience with science communication, content creation (graphics, photo or video editing), website editing or event planning. A background in physics or another natural science or engineering field will help you understand the research in the network, but we welcome applications from students of all fields.
What we offer in return
We offer a varied and flexible student job in an international research environment, where you will gain hands-on experience with science communication and with the management of a large EU-funded research project. You will work closely with researchers at DTU Physics and get to know a European network of universities, research institutes and companies.
At DTU, you will be part of one of Europe’s leading research and educational institutions. You enter an organization that aims to develop knowledge at an international level. You can look forward to a challenging and developing workplace with high professionalism. Of course, we make sure that you get the necessary sparring and competence development at the same time.
Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the multi-union collective agreement for the Organisations of Public Employees—Denmark (State) (OAO-S) and the trade union agreement for clerical staff etc. (HK/State).
Working hours are on average 10 hours per week and can be organized flexibly in relation to holidays, exams, etc. Starting date is 15 November 2026 (or according to mutual agreement). The employment runs as long as you are an active student.
The workplace is DTU Physics, DTU Lyngby Campus.
