As a student, budgeting and managing your finances can be difficult. Through student discounts though, you can save money in several stores, both online and in-person.
What are student discounts all about?
It’s well-known that students can have a hard time managing their finances. That’s why many businesses and stores have exclusive discounts for students, since they still want them as customers. As a student, you can benefit from this in the form of percentage-based discounts, free shipping on deliveries or similar financial benefits.
Some also claim that there’s a form of “student discount” to be had on traffic fines – this isn’t quite correct though. If you, in 2024, have a total income of less than 15.27 kr. per month, you’re entitled to a fine reduction. This is not exclusive to students however, and thus it’s not a true student discount.
Student discounts apply to university students, as well as those enrolled in other higher and tertiary educations.
If you would like to make use of student discounts, it’s important to know that you must show a valid student ID.
Which places have student discounts?
There’s a wealth of places that have student discounts, and that goes for both in-person and online shopping. They’re also within a wide variety of different fields – everything from restaurants to after-school activities to electronics. The easiest way to find a student discount is usually just asking, but if you would rather know ahead of time, there are online databases like Studiz.dk, which can give you an overview of which places have student discounts. It’s still possible for more local businesses to not be in these databases though, so it can often literally pay off to ask, just to be sure.
Note that if you get a student discount on a subscription service, this must be renewed with a valid student ID for every payment – so remember to keep an eye on this when you graduate!
