on an ongoing basis.

Are you at a university student looking for a part-time internship with the opportunity for a permanent position? Do you have an interest in trading and want to enter the dynamic world of power trading? Then grab this opportunity to become an intern in our Intraday Power Trading team from Singapore!

The job

Here’s what the job entails
Ever wondered how the electricity gets from power plants to your home? Enter power trading – the dynamic world of balancing supply and demand in real-time. Picture this: trading energy not just for hours or days, but even down to the last five minutes before it´s needed!

And furthermore, with the modern twist of green energy, with most of the European power now coming from renewable sources like wind and solar, it´s not just about buying and selling – it´s about managing the risk and opportunities the green and sustainable future also brings.

In the role, your primary function will be to support our traders in optimising Danske Commodities’ portfolio, including wind, solar and consumption. You will get the chance to learn from the best and gain insights and expertise that set you on the path to success.

Concretely, your areas of responsibility will include:

  • trade power across Europe and help handle Intraday Power Trading’s portfolio in active grids
  • support in conducting, evaluating and acting on market analysis
  • support in developing trading strategies and tools based on a quantitative setup in collaboration with other teams
  • participate in the team’s 24/7 trading shift scheme, where the Singapore team trades during the European night hours

We are seeking a part-time intern to start in September, though we are flexible with the start date for the right candidate. Ideally, the candidate will be in their penultimate year, as we intend for them to transition into a full-time trader position upon completing their studies.

Online interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, and final interviews are planned for August in Singapore.

The team

Meet the team
As our new intern, you will join Danske Commodities’ Intraday Power Trading team which trades power 24/7. Besides trading, we continuously analyse the market and look for new opportunities that can be integrated into the advanced algorithm setup we use when trading. You will join our Singapore power trading desk, which is an extension of our Intraday Power Trading team headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark. We are a team of 18 trading professionals, covering both asset trading and proprietary trading.

The team is characterised by trust, openness, and transparency. We always support each other and rely on each other to be able to run a 24/7 trading setup. We are a team of highly motivated people who always aim for great results and look for ways to become better at what we do.

In Intraday power trading, we are making transactions at lightning speed, sometimes just five minutes before the energy is needed. You are guaranteed an adrenaline rush when balancing the supply and demand of electricity in real-time while managing the risks and opportunities of green energy.

Your qualifications

But enough about us… over to you!
As you will be working in a dynamic environment with short-term trading, we imagine that you thrive on fast decision-making and are able to keep a cool head. We also picture you as someone who can quickly analyse, act, and reflect. In this role, you will conduct many analyses to act upon, but most importantly, you should be able to reflect on the decisions made – only then can we become better tomorrow than we are today.

We also imagine that you:

  • are currently enrolled in an education within Finance, Economics, Mathematics or similar
  • are interested in trading and bring motivation to the trading floor
  • are interested in learning coding (or perhaps you already have a little experience with coding)
  • can work approx. 20 hours a week (flexible to fit with your studies)
  • are proficient in English – both written and verbal
  • are a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident

Please note that it is not a requirement to have prior knowledge of the energy industry to enter this role.
