Postdoc in Data Science and Human Health - DTU Compute

An opportunity to work with data science for the benefit of society, utilizing your skills in modeling and data for the greater good.
The section for statistics and data analysis is looking for a Post doc to join the section, with the aim of strengthening the section’s work within scientific consultancy, statistics in human health and general data science. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with affiliated private companies on solving, and contribution to the solution to problems within nature are data science. You will contribute to the research in the department, in particular within statistics, human health and data science, where you will work with dedicated colleagues to gain insight for the benefit of society.

To fulfill the position, the candidate must possess knowledge of data science within human health and/or biology, and preferably have knowledge on the application of data science within private companies.

Responsibilities and qualifications

  • Provide research based scientific advice for private companies;
  • Participating in research within the section, primarily in the areas of data science in human health and biostatistics;
  • Participate in project management and funding acquisition;
  • Facilitate ad-hoc tasks within the section’s responsibilities in teaching and research;
  • Take part in publication of research results.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • An education as civil engineer or biostatistician;
  • Familiarity with applied statistics;
  • Have the proven ability to cooperate in cross-disciplinary environments;
  • Knowledge of circumstances under which university scientific advice is given to private companies;
  • A background within scientific computing, using tools such as R, Julia or Python;
  • Knowledge of data science and epidemiology within human health;
  • Be able to work independently and take initiatives within research:
  • Possess communication skills to scientific and non-scientific recipients.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years.Starting date is 1 December 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
