We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant to join the marine section at the Center for Glacial Rock Flour. The position is temporary and will expire 31 August 2025. The position is to be filled by 15 March 2025.

Workplace
The Center for Glacial Rock Flour Research’s vision is to strengthen food security and reduce global warming by removing carbon from the atmosphere and stimulating biological productivity, both in agriculture and in the oceans. We investigate the possibilities of applying naturally occurring rock flour from the Greenland Ice Sheet as a source of nutrients.

Your job
Your task will be:

  • Carry out laboratory experiments with glacial rock flour. organize chemicals, prepare plankton cultures, setting up experimental equipment and handling measurements and data from experiments.
  • Assist with experimental work in the field and at sea.
  • Assist with data analysis and presentations of experimental results.
  • Assist with other related activities at the center.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • M.Sc in marine biology or related fields
  • Experience in handling and carrying out experiments with phytoplankton cultures.
  • Experience with measurements of marine environmental variables.
  • Experience with data management, analysis and presentation of data.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Interest in marine ecosystems and marine CO2 capture.
  • An independent, rational, and pragmatic mindset promoting collaboration and solutions.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is temporary and will expire 31 August 2025. The position is to be filled by 15 March 2025.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organization. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 32,998 DKK/approx. 4,399 EUR (April 2024 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

    The further process
