DTU Tenure Track Researcher position in Auditory Neurophysiology - DTU Health Tech

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)

If you are motivated when it comes to leading research in auditory neurophysiology, establish rodent electrophysiology facilities, and drive translational research, you could be the one we are looking for.
The Centre for Auditory Neuroscience at DTU Health Tech invites applicants for a position as a tenure track researcher in Auditory Neurophysiology.

Responsibilities and qualifications
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting auditory neurophysiology research in animal and human models. This includes establishing facilities and infrastructure for rodent auditory electrophysiology, particularly in models of noise and age-induced hearing loss. Additionally, you will also be responsible for translational electrophysiology in the areas of hearing and hearing pathologies.

You will be involved in leading and supporting large-scale experimental neuroscience research projects in the Centre, aiming to advance our understanding of auditory pathologies, improve diagnostics, and develop therapeutic interventions.

You have a background in auditory neurophysiology and a documented track record in both animal and human auditory neurophysiology research. Relevant experience and certification for working with rodent models are required, as well as expertise in acoustics and auditory signal processing. You will collaborate closely with partners across Health Tech Sections, including the Hearing Systems Section, and with clinical and industrial partners in the field of hearing care.

You must contribute to the teaching of courses within neuroscience and electrophysiology. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) within neuroscience, electrical or biomedical engineering, neurobiology, or similar. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an excellent track record in auditory neurophysiology and should have extensive experience with electrophysiology, including electrocochleography and acoustic reflex measurements in animals and humans. Documented research experience within models of noise-induced and age-related auditory neurodegeneration is a strong plus. The ideal candidate should have documented knowledge within acoustics, auditory modelling, and auditory signal processing.

You should be committed to the centre mission of building a world-leading auditory neuroscience capacity at DTU Health Tech. The overall focus will be to conduct outstanding neuroscience research by advancing state-of-the-art neurophysiology in models of hearing loss within the centre. You should have a multidisciplinary outlook and be passionate about creating collaborations across DTU Health Tech as well as with external partners in Denmark and internationally.

You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • Research experience
  • Experience and quality of teaching
  • Research vision and potential
  • International impact and experience
  • Societal impact
  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
  • Communication skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
