The Operations Research (OR) group at the department of Materials and Production, Aalborg University is conducting a search for a senior researcher, starting 1 May 2025 or soon thereafter. The OR group specializes in research activities focused on the practical applications of operations research and AI. The group addresses complex problems requiring advanced modeling, data analysis, and management, as well as the development of solution algorithms through mathematical and computational approaches. The group’s theoretical foundation for modeling and algorithm development is multidisciplinary, drawing from computer science, operations research, and applied mathematics. The employment is a full-time employment. Workplace is in Aalborg.
Jobbeskrivelse
We are seeking applicants conducting research in the areas of statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on quantifying uncertainty in dynamic systems and modeling the behavior of complex systems. The ideal candidate will have applied these methods to real-world problems and demonstrated both academic and technical expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in applying and implementing statistical and machine learning methodologies across multiple fields. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in statistics, data science, or a related discipline.
Preference will also be given to candidates with experience in research projects related to the topics mentioned above. Documented experience in leading research activities, including managing projects and work packages, will be considered an advantage. Additionally, knowledge of and documented experience with the Problem-Based Learning model, as practiced at Aalborg University, will be highly valued, particularly as some teaching activities may be required.
We are looking for a candidate with a proven record of publishing in high-impact and prestigious journals and relevant teaching experience. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects and participate actively in efforts to attract new research initiatives and funding.
The role involves academic and collaborative research within the research group and with external partners. Furthermore, the successful applicant must contribute to the teaching activities, primarily in the Global Business Engineering and Operations and Supply Chain Management engineering programs.

Qualification requirements
The level of qualification for Senior Researchers shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Senior Researcher, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.

- A current curriculum vitae.
- Copies of relevant diplomas(Master of Science and PhD- both in english).
- Scientific qualifications. A complete list of publications must be attached with an indication of the works the applicant wishes to be considered. You may attach up to 10 publications.
- Teaching qualifications described in the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed the applicant must include an explanation for its absence.
- Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.
- Additional qualifications in relation to the position.
- References/recommendations.
- Personal data.

Assessment
The assessment of applicants for the position will be carried out by an assessment committee.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select candidates for assessment. Candidates selected for assessment will then be informed about the composition of the assessment committee. All candidates will be notified whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not.
Applicants who are selected for assessment will have the opportunity to comment on their assessment.
When the hiring process is completed, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state(AC collective agreement)(only in Danish) and circular concerning protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities(only in Danish).
