At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology a position as Postdoc on On AI In Marine Environments is open for appointment from March 1st 2025 or soon hereafter and for a period of 2 years. The Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology has as its goal the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research which integrate creativity, engineering and technology within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity and technology, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user.

Jobbeskrivelse
The majority of the Earth's surface is covered by water, making marine environments a key component in understanding environmental and ecological changes. Monitoring marine environments is crucial, and increasing amounts of data are being collected to address this challenge. However, analyzing this data still relies heavily on manual labor, making it infeasible to process all the collected information efficiently. The postdoc will collaborate with experts from the marine sector to automate the data analysis process using AI and assist in optimizing data collection for this task. Applicants should have a strong background in AI, particularly in computer vision, as most of the data will consist of images or videos. Additionally, prior experience in both analyzing and capturing data within marine environments is required.

Qualification requirements:
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state(AC collective agreement)(only in Danish) and circular concerning protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities(only in Danish).
