Your role and responsibilities
This master thesis project aims to develop a versatile GraphRAG-based framework for semantic search and discovery in academic contexts. The project will be jointly initiated by two students who will later specialize in different applications while sharing core infrastructure. This research is at the intersection of information retrieval, graph databases, and language models, leveraging recent advancements in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies. The project aligns with growing interest in AI-enhanced tools for Industry, education and research, benefiting industrial research, universities, research institutions, and students. It supports scalable, intuitive, and intelligent academic resource discovery. Traditional keyword-based search methods fail to capture semantic relationships between concepts, leading to missed connections and incomplete results. Details: • Period: February - June • Number of credits: 30 points equivalent to a master thesis, • Number of students for this thesis work: 1 • Location: the thesis can be done mostly at the university Months 1-2: Joint core framework development Months 3-4: Joint data pipeline development Months 5-6: Individual application development
Qualifications for the role
- Master student in computer science, theoretical physic, electrical engineering/ automatic control
- Familiar with Python programming
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and frameworks
- Familiarity with deep learning libraries (PyTorch/TensorFlow)
- Problem-solving mindset
- Good English communication skills
