Research Assistant to Study Kidney Metabolism

The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a Research Assistant to Study Kidney Metabolism as per 1 May 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a full-term position for 12 months.

The Department of Biomedicine prioritises diversity and a good work environment, as this is a prerequisite for groundbreaking research. English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings and at seminars. The department employs approx. 500 people from all over the world, and they make use of the department's modern laboratory-, core- and animal facilities. The Department of Biomedicine focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship and collaboration with business and industry, and numerous researchers from the department have established companies to develop new medicinal treatments founded in professional scientific basic research. Your job responsibilities
As research assistant, your primary tasks are to assist with ongoing projects in the laboratory and to potentially acquire technical skills to start a PhD degree after the period. You contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Prepare sample for mass spectrometry analysis
  • Gain expertise in understanding mass spectrometry based omics data
  • Develop and document novel methods and tools
  • Communication of scientific results in lab meetings, journal clubs and conferences

You will report to the Markus Rinschen, MD, Associate Professor.

Your competences
You have a background within Biomedicine and experience with molecular biology, bioinformatics, or other biomedical laboratory skills. You are willing to learn new methods, and are interested in bioinformatics or quantitative approaches to biology. You are an enthusiastic learner, friendly and a team player. You are ambitious and goal-oriented, and communicate well. You would like to make a change for patients that suffer from kidney and cardiovascular disease. You are interested in pursuing further academic training after a PhD period.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.

We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

  • Appointment as a research assistant requires academic qualifications at master's degree level.

  • The appointment is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
  • Remuneration is in accordance with the above, and the Salary agreement catalogue for staff at Health.
