A position as Assistant Professor (three years) or Associate Professor (five years) (100% time) is vacant at the Research Unit Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Environmental Medicine (CPPEM), Department of Public Health, SDU.
The academic position
We are looking for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to be part of the Translational Pharmacology group at the research unit.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cell-based in vitro research within pharmacology, and preferably experience with CRISPRi, RNA sequencing, proteomics, and/or bioinformatic handling of biomedical data
- Translation of preclinical data into human relevance in collaboration with the research unit
- Supervision of pre- and post-graduate students
- Teaching of pharmacology-related subjects and managing courses at programs for pharmacy, biomedicine, and medicine
This is an opportunity to be part of a highly translational research group within pharmacology. We utilize induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) to study drug effects and toxicity using state-of-the-art methodology and bridge to clinical relevance through clinical studies in patients or healthy volunteers.
Expectations of qualifications
We are looking for an individual with a relevant pharmacological background, a PhD, and relevant experience as a postdoc.
We are an international research unit and communicate primarily in English and thus are looking for someone fluent in both written and oral communication in English.
Experience with any of the abovementioned responsibilities is an advantage but not a requirement if the candidate is motivated to learn.
The research unit
The position is located within CPPEM, which is a highly motivated research unit that performs research within pharmacology and environmental medicine. The research areas of CPPEM span from pharmacoepidemiology to clinical studies and cell-based basic pharmacology and environmental medicine. Collectively, CPPEM has a strong background in exposure to environmental chemicals, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenetics, pharmacokinetics, drug-drug interactions and therapeutic drug monitoring. Specifically, the pharmacoepidemiological research group utilizes the world-class Danish registries as well as international data sources to assess pharmacological questions in large populations. The translational pharmacology group aims to understand variability in drug toxicity, drug metabolism and drug transport. Examples of this include cell-based models such as induced-pluripotent stem cells, primary human hepatocytes and clinical studies. The environmental medicine group study the impact of early life exposures to environmental chemicals. In particularly per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) is a focus area, with studies of the adverse health effects of exposure, biomonitoring and advising national and international authorities. The analytical chemistry laboratory unit specializes in quantitative analysis of pharmaceuticals and environmental chemicals in various matrices.
We offer an attractive and inspiring working environment with dedicated and highly skilled people. As a department, we value having a pleasant and informal working environment across all job functions at the department. Further, attracting and training excellent young researchers is a priority, including internal training in not only methodology but also ‘soft skills’ covering topics such as dissemination, work planning, collaboration, work/life balance etc. You will in your daily work refer to Professor Tore B. Stage, but you will be expected to contribute to the whole research unit
