Postdoc in Drone-based Remote Sensing for Wind Energy - DTU Wind

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet

The Meteorology and Remote Sensing section of DTU Wind and Energy Systems is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team. The Meteorology and Remote Sensing section is a globally leading research group in atmospheric remote sensing in wind energy applications.

As a postdoctoral researcher you will join a team of scientists that will research, develop and test a state-of-the-art wind sensor, a small Doppler lidar that will be deployed on an unmanned aircraft system (drone). The drone-based Doppler lidar will be used to enhance our understanding of the wind conditions, by providing new insights of atmospheric turbulence.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Research and develop of a drone-based Doppler lidar
  • Validate the performance of a drone-based Doppler lidar
  • Perform field campaigns
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on the study of atmospheric turbulence
  • Disseminate research in journal articles and scientific conferences
  • Supervise MSc student projects or co-supervise PhD projects

Our vision is that the tasks involved in this postdoctoral position enhance the scientific profile an early-stage researcher. Furthermore, your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within remote sensing for wind energy. You will work with colleagues with both academic and technical expertise.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Candidates with experience in Doppler lidars or drones, participation in scientific field campaigns within atmospheric sciences, wind energy, or wind engineering, and excellent written and verbal communication skills will be given special consideration, although these qualifications are not mandatory.
