Student Assistant in Mechanical Engineering

Are you a Mechanical Engineering student looking for a part-time position where you can gain practical experience while supporting engineering and production activities? As a Student Assistant at BWSC, you will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians, contributing to real engineering tasks and supporting daily operations in a professional environment.

The position is part-time with an expected workload of approximately 8–12 hours per week, depending on your availability and ongoing tasks.

The position
As a Student Assistant, you will support mechanical engineering and production activities through administrative, technical and operational tasks. You will work closely with senior engineers and technicians across design, manufacturing, maintenance and quality functions. The role provides valuable insight into how mechanical engineering solutions are developed, produced and maintained in an industrial environment.

The role may include 1–3 travel days per month, which will always be planned with consideration for your exam periods and academic commitments. We offer a high degree of flexibility in relation to exams and study obligations.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in design and drafting using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Support manufacturing and production activities
  • Assist with testing, inspection and quality control of mechanical components
  • Prepare and update technical reports, drawings and documentation
  • Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of machines and equipment
  • Follow safety rules and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate with senior engineers and technicians on site or in workshops

Qualifications
We foresee that the ideal candidate is motivated to learn, takes initiative and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team in a technical environment.

  • Currently pursuing a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, materials and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with CAD software is an advantage
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a professional engineering environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written)
