Research Agronomist role – DLF Seeds Australia 2024

DLF Seeds is a proprietary pasture seed company operating for more than 75 years across each state of Australia. Our activities cover all aspects of the seed market, from progressive R&D through to product supply, distribution and technical on-farm support.

The Australian activities link with our research and distribution activities in New Zealand, Europe, North America and South America, these can provide career and training opportunities across different regions and production systems. DLF Seeds Australia are currently seeking a Research Agronomist to join our team at Leigh Creek, Ballarat, Victoria under our Research team. Graduates will be considered and will be eligible to join our Graduate program.

About Us.
The Leigh Creek Research station, located near to Ballarat, Victoria, is the centre of research and extension activities for DLF Seeds in Australia. From this site we manage trials in many southern / eastern agroclimatic zones and link strongly with our New Zealand plant breeding and development programs with the aim of developing broadly adapted, innovative and market leading forage varieties.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support and management of pasture variety trials in Southern / Eastern Australia.
• Assist in the planning, implementation, and reporting of replicated forage evaluation trials.
• Provide technical support on externally funded projects and collaborative projects.
• Liaison and provision of agronomic support to company sales and marketing teams and external customers.

Key Requirements:
• Relevant qualifications in agriculture, horticulture, or plant sciences, or similar would be beneficial.
• Demonstrated experience in plant research, agronomy or horticulture and an understanding of Australian farming systems
• Experience in the planning, implementation, and reporting of replicated forage evaluation trials.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to analyse data accurately.
• Knowledge of relevant software programs, such as MS Office and statistical analysis software.
