Part time academic employee in Protein Engineering - DTU Biosustain

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)

We are looking for a part time academic employee to support our activities in the wet lab with regards to protein engineering workflows.
The Computational Protein Engineering (CPE) group at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) is creating and characterizing novel protein/enzyme variants to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to the most pressing issues facing our societies in terms of bioproduction and bioremediation. To accelerate this work, we need an employee with academic background to support the establishment of the required scientific infrastructures.

We are looking for a structured and independent part time scientific academic employee to help us perform support functions that form the basis for experiments in the wet lab. The candidate must thrive within an interdisciplinary environment at a world-class research centre and be interested in providing academic support for research activities aimed at improving proteins using state-of-the-art experimental and computational methods.

When joining our group, you get the opportunity to learn about the latest algorithms in machine learning for improving protein function, for instance, enzyme activity, selectivity, or stability, etc. We currently work with enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of natural products and biochemicals.

  • Coordinate activities and support tasks within basic tasks in microbiology, molecular biology and genetic engineering.
  • Academic support of projects aimed at purifying and characterizing enzyme variants using biophysical and biochemical methods.

Our expectations of you
We are looking for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences who has excellent organizational skills and an interest in supporting wet lab projects. You must be service-minded, used to working independently, detail oriented and have a good level of English since our group is a highly international environment.

What we offer in return
At DTU, you will be part of one of Europe's leading research and educational institutions. You enter an organization that aims to develop knowledge at an international level. You can look forward to a challenging and developing workplace with high professionalism. Of course, we make sure that you get the necessary sparring and competence development at the same time.
