DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Metallurgy and Thermochemical Surface Engineering – DTU Construct

Responsibilities and qualifications
The Materials and Surface Engineering section in the Department for Civil and Mechanical Engineering is internationally leading within gas interactions with metal surfaces and microstructural engineering of bulk metals by heat treatments. Your overall focus will be to join and further develop the section’s activities within this field.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Teach courses in basic materials science and physical metallurgy at BSc and MSc level.
  • Supervise BSc and MSc projects and co-supervise PhD students.
  • Be responsible for advanced equipment for gas-metal interactions.
  • Contribute to research on metallurgical processing without CO2 emission.
  • Contribute ideas to and participate in the writing of research applications.

We expect you to have:

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent)
  • A broad background within metallurgy
  • Experience with experimental gas-based surface engineering and/or heat treatment research.
  • Experience with materials microstructure characterization with various microscopy, diffraction and spectroscopy techniques.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The starting date is as soon as possible and according to mutual agreement. The position is a full-time position.
