Postdoc in Sustainable and/or Digital Business Development – DTU Engineering Technology

The Department of Engineering Technology at DTU invites applications for a 1-year full-time Post Doc within the research area Sustainable and/or Digital Business Development. We seek a new colleague passionate about digitalization and sustainable business development. Research within the Section for Business Development is focused on business development, finance, innovation strategy, business model innovation, managerial economics, and managerial accounting. The section is currently building up research capacity with the ambition to host an international environment for research and teaching within the broad area of business development. Research in the section is generally cross-disciplinary bridging various aspects of management and engineering to provide new insights into economic aspects of technology implementation.

Faculty members have backgrounds in management, economics, sociology, political science, and engineering. The section emphasizes a solid though pluralistic approach to research methodology including both quantitative and quantitative empirical methods. Core research areas of the Section include topics such as economic aspects of implementing new green technologies, green finance, new market creation, green business model innovation, social and environmental sustainability, how to embed management perspectives into engineering educational programs, etc.

The Section focuses on addressing the challenges and opportunities in business development faced by firms in evolving conditions, emphasizing sustainability and digital transformation. We collaborate with a diverse range of organizations, including large enterprises and SMEs, across both the public and private sector. These collaborations provide insight into the challenges faced by practitioners when implementing new technologies and the particular emphasis on SMEs provides unique insights into their dynamic environments.

Our Department and Section prioritize to closely align research and teaching closely with practical applications. Skills in either quantitative or qualitative empirical research are valuable, as is the ability to connect with the Department's technically focused research areas and industry participants. The Section for Business Development provides teaching and supervision across undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs in economics, business administration, leadership, sustainability, and digitalization.

• Publishing scholarly works
• Participating in applications for external research funding
• Advancing the department's research agenda and strengthening its international position
• Actively participating in departmental and section activities, such as meetings, seminars, and conferences
• Contribute to instruction and assessments in existing DTU courses

To meet the position's requirements, the applicant is expected to be regularly present at the department.

Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. or equivalent qualification
• Experience with research within one or more of the following areas: industry dynamics, innovation management, knowledge management, business model innovation, business development, digitalization, environmental and/or social sustainability
• Experience with one or more research methods from the field of social science (e.g. econometric analyses of register or archival data, experiments, interviews, case studies, or other methods)
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
• A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary work

Candidates should have a keen interest in collaborating with Section and Departmental colleagues in research and teaching to foster a vibrant academic culture.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 1 year. Starting date is 1 October 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
