The position
You will join our In vivo Pharmacology team focusing on Diabetes Pharmacology, working with both rodents and large animals. This position is a hands-on role working within large animal pharmacology. As an Associate Scientist/Research Scientist in Diabetes Pharmacology you will conduct pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology studies in pigs to validate targets, mature targets, and understand modes of action.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Design, coordination and execution of in vivo pharmacology studies in pigs
  • Ensuring experiments are conducted in compliance with internal and external guidelines
  • Analysing and reporting data of pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology studies
  • Communicating findings and implications of in vivo data to internal teams and external partners
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align research objectives and strategies
  • Continuously focusing on development and improvement of our in vivo pharmacology models

Seniority level of the position will be dependent on the individual’s qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
You have a M.Sc. in Pharmacology, Biology, Veterinary Sciences or a related field with some relevant experience or a Ph.D. in the mentioned fields.

To be successful in this role we expect you to have:

  • Experience with conducting in vivo pharmacology experiments in pigs
  • Preferably, knowledge of diabetes physiology and pharmacology and familiarity with clamp experiments in large animals
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions, ensuring continuous improvement in pharmaceutical processes and products
  • Proficiency in working with diverse teams to drive projects forward and achieve common goals
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex scientific data and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making

On a personal level, you demonstrate a strong ability to effectively collaborate within a team environment, fostering an atmosphere of shared knowledge and innovation. Your proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability to evolving research requirements allows for the seamless integration of new methodologies and the exploration of novel scientific avenues. Additionally, your effective communication skills and attention to detail ensure precise data interpretation and contribute to the successful execution of research projects within the diabetes pharmacology domain.

About the department
You will join Diabetes Pharmacology which is part of Integrated Physiology Research within Global Drug Discovery in Novo Nordisk, which specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of cardiometabolic and rare diseases. Integrated Physiology Research is a global function consisting of five departments (located in Måløv/Ganløse, Denmark and Boston, US) with in vivo pharmacology and microphysiological systems at our core. The research site is a vibrant and inclusive workplace hosting scientists, post-docs, PhD students, research assistants and technicians and has an international work environment.

The department delivers high quality rodent and large animal in vivo data with a translational focus within diabetes and is driving ideation based on scientific excellence within diabetes physiology. We collaborate closely with our colleagues within Integrated Physiology Research, In vitro Biology, Global Research Technology, Global Translation and beyond to drive projects forward and translate our findings into novel and effective treatments for diabetes.
