Do you want to spend next summer working closely with SINTEF researchers within sensor-technologies?
Our vision is technology for a better society
. We prioritise research that promotes sustainable growth and value creation. We work across many market sectors, solving challenges from the seabed to outer space. We also love working with students, and the energy and new perspectives they bring!
Sensors are the foundation of digitalisation and autonomy, whether they are used for robotics, heart rate monitoring or controlling industrial processes. By measuring better data from the real world, we can unlock the potential of AI and machine learning. Today, SINTEF is a leader in designing and building advanced sensor components and systems for industrial and commercial use. At the department of Smart Sensors and Microsystems in Oslo, there are over 80 researchers working on developing technology from nanoscale chip level to full system prototypes. Our clients range from brand new start-up companies to large multinational corporations.
We offer summer jobs to undergraduate students (preferably in their 3rd and 4th years).
You will work on existing research projects with our clients, under the supervision of a mentor. The summer program at SINTEF also includes social activities, and you will get to know a variety of students working in other departments. We also offer the possibility of collaborating with you on your future master's project, or even co-supervising PhD fellowships or offering full-time PhD positions further down the line, when you have finished your undergraduate studies.
We have many ongoing projects, and we will define the tasks for our summer positions in Spring 2025, after we have heard from you!
What is your passion?
Do you love building and tinkering in the lab? Do you like getting out of the lab, measuring in the field? Do you like deep diving into real world datasets from sensors? Do you like the precise workmanship that is required when working at a micro and nano level?
The technical areas of expertise we specialise are health and performance technology, applied optics, computer vision, technology for demanding environments, micro-optics, bioMEMS and medical sensors, MEMS, radiation sensors and piezoelectric microsystems.
