Student assistant at Land-CRAFT
Aarhus Universitet (AU)
Would you like to help us at the Center for Landscape Research in Sustainable Agricultural Futures (Land-CRAFT)?
Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is looking for a student assistant for the Center for Landscape Research in Sustainable Agricultural Futures (Land-
CRAFT). The position is available from 15 March 2025 and will be for a period of up to 2 years.
The Center for Landscape Research in Sustainable Agricultural Futures (Land-CRAFT)
at Aarhus University addresses three of our major societal challenges - food security,
climate change, and loss of biodiversity. With Center partners from University of Copenhagen, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), and Colorado State University (USA), we bring together expertise in climate impact research, landscape analyses, biogeochemistry, agronomy, biology, and geography to develop solution-oriented research that extends across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Established in June 2022, Land-CRAFT has a collaborative team to undertake both fundamental and applied research aimed to reduce the environmental impact of agricultural systems, specifically regarding greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve our goals, we are using a combination of empirical, field-based approaches, digital technologies, including modelling and remote sensing, while closely interacting with stakeholders.
We are looking for a student assistant to join a project focused on data analysis methods to measure greenhouse gas emissions using a hyperspectral camera. The position involves conducting experiments with the hyperspectral camera and analyzing the resulting observations.
Job description
- Various administrative tasks
- Data analysis of methane measurements taken with a hyperspectral camera from NewTec. This will include reading the measurements into Python using the program package HSTI and making a first quality assurance of the measurements.
- Analysis with various tools such as principal component analysis and autoencoder to determine the measured methane concentration in each pixel. Finally, the spectra must also be compared with theoretical spectra using the program package Radis in Python.
- Assisting with field and laboratory measurements and experiments.
- Collaborating with our engineer to develop custom greenhouse gas measurement equipment.
Your profile
We expect that you:
