Student Research Assistant position in Cell Biology at Department of Clinical Immunology, Rigshospitalet
Region Hovedstaden
The Center for Endotheliomics applies various techniques including bioinformatic analysis of clinical metabolomics to understand the endothelial pathology in various conditions including pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, and traumatic shock. The Center is seeking a master student to perform a meta-analysis of several clinical metabolomics data sets in order to better understand the disease agnostic metabolic links to markers of endothelial dysfunction in these diseases.
The job
This group seeks a master student who has some experience of cell culture or fluorescent microscopy or molecular biology techniques. This person will culture vascular endothelial cells and perform various cell and molecular biology analyses.
- Culture of vascular endothelial cells. Knowledge of standard sterile cell culture techniques is useful.
- Immunofluorescent microscopy. We will use immunocytochemistry to stain cells with fluorescent antibodies to monitor the changes in protein expression and localization with regards to the stimuli.
- Other cell and molecular biology assays. We will stimulate cells with inflammatory mediators, drugs or alter the expression of proteins of interest. We will also use some other techniques such as western blotting and qPCR, plate based biochemical assays and Seahorse metabolic analyzer to monitor these cells.
About us
An established inter-disciplinary group of clinicians, bioinformaticians and wet-lab biologists taking a data driven approach to the biology underlying endothelial dysfunction that contributes to a variety of diseases. This is a bench to bedside group with collaborations both in Europe and the USA.
About you
You are the right candidate if you are:
- A Master student in Cell biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar or a Medical Student with previous cell culture experience. Some previous cell or molecular biology laboratory experience is necessary. However, this position will provide an opportunity to build on this experience.
