R&D Team Lead
Your role and responsibilities
ABB Corporate Research Center in Sweden is located in Västerås, about 100 kilometers west of Stockholm. Together with our colleagues in other R&D centers we develop technologies for future products and services for ABB's core businesses. In a collaboration with the Division of Decision and Control Systems we offer a thesis project focusing on cyber security of data driven control systems. In a world where malicious actors are growing more sophisticated, how do we safeguard control systems that rely solely on data? Imagine a scenario where an adversary understands your detection mechanisms. Can they manipulate your learning algorithms in subtle, undetectable ways, potentially compromising the entire system? This project aims to delve into the above questions. We will investigate how to design robust detectors that can defend data-driven control systems against cyber-attacks. Furthermore, we will explore how adversaries with knowledge of our detection strategies could influence the learning process. Details: • Start in January/February 2025 for a duration of 5 months • 30 ECTS per student • 1 student • On site at ABB Corporate Research in Västerås or at the DCS division of KTH Objective: The roadmap of the project is as follows: • Guided literature review • Design attack policies against learning algorithms • Design safety mechanisms to detect attacks • Explore some applications The project has the potential to lead to conference publication
