At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Computer Science, a position as part-time Professor (20%) is open for appointment from May 1, 2025 or soon hereafter. The applicant must contribute to the continued development of the department’s research, e.g. by contributing expertise in priority areas. The position involves a 20% employment at the university, and the applicant is expected to have his/her main occupation at a leading research institution abroad. The position is available for a period of 4 years. Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University is highly regarded in Denmark among researchers, students, and external partners because of our leading research, education, and collaboration. The department currently has more than 160 scientific staff, 20 administrative staff, and 1000 students.

The position is within theData Engineering, Science and Systems(DESS) research group:
The research concerns data management and analytics, including query processing, data mining, and machine learning, with emphasis on spatio-temporal, time-series, multidimensional, and graph data. The research is constructive in nature, spans foundational topics and applications, and embraces a data science approach. A position as part-time Professor is temporary with focus on specific obligations. For the announced position, the specific focus will be to strengthen activities in the areas ofsystem-related data management and digital twin environments.
The position requires experience and involvement in management of large research projects with many contributing academic and industrial partners and may include supervision of PhD students and post-docs, as well as maintenance of and cooperation in national and international academic networks. The Professor is expected to involve in preparation of research funding proposals, and also teaching and assessment, primarily of graduate and Ph.D. students.
The Professor is expected to conduct dissemination of research results to and initiate cooperation with international partners in order to strengthen the University’s relations international universities and private companies.

Qualification requirements:
The suitable applicant must demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question, see above. The applicant must also have a track record of research management and of attracting external research funding. In addition, the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities.

The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state(AC collective agreement)(only in Danish) and circular concerning protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities(only in Danish).
