The research unit
Cochrane Denmark and Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine Odense function as a joint research centre at the Department of Clinical Research, SDU. The centre conducts research relevant for evidence-based medicine, promotes Cochrane and supports authors of Cochrane reviews in Denmark, teaches, and provides a research methodological consultancy service.
Cochrane Denmark and Centre for Evidence Based Medicine Odense (CEBMO) is located at Odense University Hospital, Odense, Denmark. The centre houses the secretariat of the Cochrane Bias Methods Group, which advises the Cochrane collaboration [www.cochrane.org] on bias in randomized trials and systematic reviews.
The centre is responsible for a pre-graduate course in evidence-based medicine for medical students, and postgraduate courses (e.g., PhD courses). Furthermore, the centre runs a methodological consultancy service for clinical researchers, e.g., when conducting systematic reviews.
The academic position
The job involves research, professional development, research education, teaching, including exams, supervision and assessment work within the field of evidence-based medicine.
Research tasks:research within the center's field of interest, including methodological clinical research, randomized clinical trials and systematic reviews (e.g., Cochrane reviews) and clinical research more broadly.
Teaching/Consultancy tasks: Undergraduate teaching (e.g., introductory course in EBM) and postgraduate teaching (e.g., PhD courses and courses aimed at authors of Cochrane reviews).
Expectations of qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to have an interest in evidence-based medicine, especially within the sub-fields: conflicts of interest, meta-epidemiology, and reporting guidelines.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to have
- a PhD degree within a relevant field
- research experience documented by international peer-reviewed journal articles within the fields of clinical trials and evidence-based medicine
- a documented record of teaching experience and teaching skills
Danish language skills are not required initially, however, should be mastered within the first 2 years of employment.
In addition, good cooperation skills are expected in order to further the development of research in the areas mentioned above, both interdisciplinary as well as nationally and internationally. International partners are an advantage, but not a requirement.

Salary and terms of employment
The applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
