Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Türkiye?
We offer:
A traineeshipof 6 months within the Trade and Economy Section of the EU Delegation to Türkiye, starting in April 2025.
The Delegation of the European Union in Ankara represents, promotes and advances the interests and values of the European Union in Türkiye.
The Trade and Economy Section of the EU Delegation is a policy section, responsible for representation, policy dialogue, and monitoring, analysis and reporting in the areas of Section’s responsibility in relation to the EU-Türkiye bilateral economic and trade relationship, Türkiye domestic and foreign policies and its alignment with the EU acquis.
The Section’s 9-strong team covers the following broad thematic areas of competence: Economy and economic governance (including Industrial Policy, Digitalisation and Economic Aspects of Green Deal including Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism); Trade and Customs Union; Agriculture policy (including food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy) and agri-food trade.
The Trade section develops and maintains relations with Turkish private sector and business community and acts as a focal point in the Delegation’s dealings with private sector associations.
Main tasks:
- Research on and analyse areas covered by the Section’s work and assist in preparing thematic analytical notes, background notes, presentations, briefings;
- Gather data and information on economic and trade indicators;
- Monitor news outlets of relevance and contribute to Section’s newsletter;
- Participate in and report from internal and external meetings/events;
- Provide assistance to the team in the different tasks related to communication and visibility such as seminars, conferences, website updates, etc.
- Assist the Section for a smooth operation of its daily activities.

Qualifications or special requirements:
- Sound background in economics, trade or international relations,
- Eagerness to learn, motivation to work in a team, attention to detail,
- Enthusiasm, flexibility and curiosity,
- Excellent drafting skills in English,
- Knowledge of Turkish would be an asset

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
