Student Compliance Assistant

As a Student Compliance Assistant at Nitor Energy, you will support our ambitious Legal & Compliance team with the day-to-day activities that underpin our trading activities and broader business operations. You will help maintain high standards in market conduct, internal governance, and regulatory awareness while gaining hands-on experience with the systems, assessments, and decision processes that drive a modern energy-trading company.

This role is suited for someone in the middle of a relevant education who wants to work in a fast-moving environment where execution matters, and where compliance is treated as a practical, value-adding discipline rather than a bureaucratic exercise. You will be taught the technical regulatory framework – your ability to analyze data, organize tasks, and think logically matters far more than prior legal training.

Your tasks will include

• Monitoring market activity through our trade-surveillance systems
• Planning and executing selected compliance monitoring activities independently
• Screening contractual counterparties for compliance, sanctions, and reputational risks
• Maintaining and updating internal policies and guidelines
• Supporting internal reporting
• Monitoring regulatory developments
• Providing ad hoc guidance to the business on compliance-related matters

What we’re looking for

• You have at least 2 years left of your studies within risk management, law, business, finance, mathematics, or a comparable field, and are available to work for 10-16 hours a week across two weekdays
• You work systematically, can structure your own tasks, and take ownership of getting things done
• You are comfortable interpreting data and have a strong analytical mindset with an interest in how European energy markets function
• You have an execution-driven mindset and operate well in an environment that values speed, clarity, and pragmatism
• You can challenge assumptions, ask precise questions, and communicate your reasoning clearly
• You are a proficient user in Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with GDPR, NIS2, or CER is an advantage but not a requirement
