We are looking for
Research Assistant in Trustworthy Large Language Models for Transportation and Mobility at Faculty of Technology and Society.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support a research project examining the societal applications of Large Language Models (LLMs) in transportation and mobility. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and mobility studies, with a strong focus on sustainability, digital inclusion, and data-driven policy development.
Work duties
- Conduct literature reviews on AI applications in travel behavior analysis.
- Assist with expert interviews and data collection.
- Support the design and development of conceptual and analytical frameworks for the use of LLMs.
- Analyze and synthesize both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Contribute to the writing of scientific reports, position papers, and academic publications.
- Participate in research meetings and support dissemination activities.
Qualifications
Specific requirements for this position:
- Master’s degree in computer science, data science, or a closely related field.
- Strong interest in AI—particularly LLMs—and their societal impacts.
- Experience in academic writing and conducting literature reviews.
- Familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Relevant experience in using LLMs within similar application domains.
The following would be of benefit for the position:
- Knowledge of urban and transport planning.
- Interest in social sustainability, cognitive development, or digital inclusion.

Faculty, Department and Research environment
The Faculty of Technology and Society conducts education and research with a focus on technology and natural sciences at the two departments of Computer Science and Media Technology and Materials Science and Applied Mathematics. The Department of Computer Science and Media Technology offers research-linked education at first-cycle, second-cycle and doctoral levels. The department conducts research in computer science, information systems, software engineering and media technology. We are interested in research and education areas such as artificial intelligence, digital media, e-health, internet of things and game development. Link
The research centre studies both social and technological aspects to promote sustainable digitalisation. The aim is to contribute to how the opportunities of digitalisation can be used in a sustainable way and to develop knowledge and solutions for how digitalisation can support the development of a more sustainable society.
