Economic Recovery and MEAL Intern

DRC - Dansk Flygtningehjælp

Join us in our exciting and diverse mission to strengthen the Economic Recovery Sector in DRC globally. You will get to engage with livelihoods, cash assistance and MEAL professionals in all parts of the organization and will learn a lot about DRC’s work for people affected by displacement.

Who are we?
The Global Economic Recovery Team leads the strategic and technical directions of DRC’s Economic Recovery (EcRec) core sector. In DRC, this sector offers a holistic package of services through the three mutually reinforcing sub-sectors of Food Security, Financial Inclusion and Decent Livelihoods. Our goal is to contribute to the coverage of immediate needs (life-saving assistance), while supporting people to (re)build their autonomy and dignity as early as possible following their displacement. The global team also hosts DRC’s global Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) Advisor. CVA is DRC’s preferred modality of assistance as it gives people the autonomy to prioritize their own needs whether it's food, medicine, or education. This flexibility preserves dignity and is consistently preferred by communities in diverse contexts.

The Global Economic Recovery Team provides strategic, technical and operational support to DRC’s operations and builds capacity of staff and partners in these areas. Through our work, we ensure the timely, relevant and quality delivery of assistance; we facilitate coherence in our technical approach, we enable cross-country learning and we promote innovation and strategic partnerships.

We work in close collaboration with the Global Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Division which focuses on evidence; its analysis, documentation, and sharing. Through joint EcRec and MEAL initiatives, we strive to build a robust evidence base of our Economic Recovery and CVA programming, learning from field operations about the interventions that have the most positive impact on people affected by displacement.

About the internship
The overall objective of this internship is to assist our global teams in five main tasks:

  • Institutionalization of the use of the Self-Reliance Index
  • Rollout of our Economic Recovery Learning Agenda (including a focus on Graduation Approach programming, through the systematic measurement of DRC’s Economic Recovery programs
  • Support in the compilation of DRC’s global aggregated results
  • Support in the kick-off of DRC's Kobo tool project in collaboration between MEAL, CVA, EcRec and IT.
  • Enhanced Portfolio Mapping and Knowledge Management for both the Economic Recovery sector and CVA

We offer flexibility in the type of tasks, so you also have the possibility to influence the tasks, subject to what is relevant for your study program.

About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to be interested in evidence generation and analysis, as well as knowledge management. If your area of focus relates to the outcomes the Economic Recovery sector contributes to, this will be an advantage. We are looking for strong ability for analytical thinking, solid research skills, and an ability to express evidence well in writing and verbally. We are a vibrant and flexible team and encourage adaptability and commitment to constant learning. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 will be a big asset.
