I am a young, driven PhD student studying theoretical physics, who thrives on difficult and complex challenges. Basically, I love working with, and trying to understand, complicated systems and foreign concepts, and I am fundamentally motivated by the challenges therein.

My education
2014 - 2017

ph.d. (alm.)

Aarhus Universitet

I began my PhD studies in theoretical few- and many-body subatomic physics before finishing my masters degree.

My project is a large project, which draws upon many different areas of theoretical and experimental physics, and it involves seven senior researchers in two different countries. I act as the focal point and the project lead not only in charge of the main theoretical, computational, and numerical derivations and calculations, but also responsible for coordinating the efforts of all senior parties involved.

In addition to publishing close to a dozen peer-reviewed scientific papers, all as the first and primary author, I have been invited to, attended, and presented at a handful of scientific conferences.

Competences developed or improved: Project management, project lead, scientific communication, scientific writing, mathematical modeling, quantitative analysis, statistical analysis, computational analysis, advanced mathematics, C/C++, Fortran, bash, MatLab, R, Linux.

Cand.scient. i Fysik

Aarhus Universitet

I obtained a master's degree in physics from Aarhus University in 2015, where I primarily focused on theoretical and computational physics courses. My second peer-reviewed scientific paper was published based on work I did in my spare time next to my studies.

Anden uddannelsesinstitution i udlandet

During the summer of 2015 I attended an exclusive summer school for PhD students at the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (ECT*) with focus on computational and numerical analysis and problem solving. The primary programming languages used were fortran and C++.

It was also an interesting opportunity to meet and engage with dozens of other PhD students from all over the world.

Competences developed or improved: Fortran programming, C++ programming, computatinal analysis, numerical analysis.

BSc. Fysik

Aarhus Universitet

I obtained a bachelor's degree in physics from Aarhus University in 2012, where I predominantly chose abstract theoretical physics courses along with a number of purely mathematical courses. My first peer-reviewed scientific paper was published based on my bachelor thesis.

PhD Student - Theoretical and computational few- and many-body subatomic physics

Aarhus Universitet - Science and Technology

Employed as PhD student in theoretical physics at Aarhus University before finishing my masters degree. My research focuses on incorporating complex, internal many-body structures into clusterized few-body systems.

Working with complex subjects within theoretical and computational physics I have become particularly well equipped to handle abstract, logical problems and concepts. I thrive on difficult, unusual, and complicated tasks, and I am intrinsically motivated by the challenge to overcome and solve such problems. To this end I have learned how to quickly and independently acquire new knowledge, as well as how to absorb and internalize large amounts of new information.

Competences developed or improved: Self-motivating, working independently, solution oriented, problem solving mind set, absorbs new information quickly, analytic, logical, structured, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, computational analysis, C/C++, Fortran, R programming, Matlab, bash, linux.

Instructor - University level physics and mathematics to a variety of academic backgrounds

Aarhus Universitet - Science and Technology

Starting as a master student, and continuing throughout my PhD studies, I was an instructor in a number of different subjects at both the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Mathematics at Aarhus University.

I have taught students with a wide variety of academic backgrounds including physics, mathematics, geology, chemistry, astronomy, geophysics, medicinal chemistry, and biology.

By teaching advanced physical and mathematical subjects to students with such diverse backgrounds I learned how to adapt complex subjects to suit the individual student. I have gained a clear understanding of how difficult concepts and theories must be explained using the background and existing knowledge of the recipient as a reference point.

Competences developed or improved: General teaching experience and capabilities, scientific communication, complex communication, adapting material to recipient.
Work area: Undervisning
Period: juli 2013 - juli 2017
2016 - 2017

Visiting Research Scientist - Numerical few- and many-body structural analysis

Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas

Longer research stay at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (the Spanish National Research Council - CSIC) during my PhD studies. This was a continuation of my previous, shorter stay, and it built upon my close collaboration with several researchers at the institute. While I was there, we worked on expanding the theoretical framework for the combined few- and many-body method we are developing. In addition to the quantitative analysis done at the CSIC, I acted as the focal point for the coordination and further improvement of the framework with a number of senior researchers at Aarhus University.

Competences developed or improved: Computational analysis, numerical analysis, project coordination, project management, scientific writing, scientific communication.

Visiting PhD Student - Theoretical and computational subatomic physics

Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas

A shorter research stay at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (the Spanish National Research Council - CSIC) in the early days of my PhD studies.

Here I cultivated long-lasting working relationships with several prominent Spanish researchers, which have been maintained to this day. This has resulted in numerous scientific publications, and the trip also provided the foundation for a much longer, and also very productive, research stay in 2016 and 2017.

Competences developed or improved: Cultural understanding, interpersonal skills, professional socializing and networking.
